Japanese Language Programs

There are several overseas student support organization (local authorities and private scholarship foundations)scholarships available to Private Students who are recognized as having outstanding academic and personal records and who have financial difficulties. In general, scholarships shall be applied for after university entry. The monthly stipend ranges from \30,000 to \200,000 ; in most cases, it is \50,000 to \100,000. About half of the Private Students from overseas at Osaka University receive some sort of scholarship.

There are some scholarships which you are albe to apply for after admission. They come out on notification of our administration bureau, graduate school division. The monthly stipend ranges from \30,000 to \150,000, but terms and conditions vary across the years.

Our Original Programs

Overseas students (only undergraduate or graduate students) who are recognized as having outstanding academic records and have difficulties in paying their tuitions may be exempted from tuition in full or in part.

COE Programs

This is a support program for overseas students, organized by the Association of International Education, Japan (AIEJ). To be reimbursed for your medical fees by the AIEJ, you must be enrolled in the National Health Insurance System of Japan. Under the program, 80% or less of medical expenses are reimbursed. Since the percentage of medical expenses to be paid by the insured under the National Health Insurance System is 30%, under this program the insured need pay only about 6% of eh total actual expenses.
